Luck, Good Fortune, Blessings?

I have been hearing about the woman who has won the Texas lottery four times. It seems so unlikely that one person could have so much good fortune! There is also Helene Handsell, who has also won just about every lottery and sweepstakes she has ever entered. She is known as "the winning Sage" and has written a book about how to be a winner. I am not sure I believe in luck, but these two women would appear to be very lucky people. It is a mystery to me how some people just seem to have good things happen to them, but one thing is not a mystery, and that is that these women were willing to take a chance to  win. They didn't just sit around wishing for good things, they went out and bought lottery tickets, and sent in sweepstakes entries--most likely just for the fun of taking a chance. I know it seems foolish, at times, to take remote chances, but if you are not going to put your life or your family's well-being at risk, why not?  It certainly is better than sitting around being miserable and wondering why "Lady Luck" or God or whomever you believe in isn't paying attention to you. I could absolutely use a little (a lot!!!) extra cash, and am willing to take some chances on winning. Luck, fortune, blessings. . . I am read to let any or all of them into my life!!!!

8-8-08 Lucky Olympics? Let's Hope So!

The Olympic games always seems to bring out a certain excitement in me. When I was a little girl, my family watched the Olympics and talked about them and just all around enjoyed the every four year event. This year is no different for me, only this time, I am a little worried. China has always seemed a rather mysterious and exotic place to me, and I have to shamefully admit that I know very little about China and the Chinese culture. I was reading a little article about how the Chinese believe that the start date for the Olympics: eight minutes after the eighth hour of the eighth day of the eighth month, is lucky--except of course if you were born under the astrological sign of the Rat, in which case, astrologists suggest that you wear a pendant of an Ox to ward off clashes with those who were born under the sign of the Horse. These sorts of ideas serve to make China seem more unusual and strange to me. At any rate, I am looking forward to the couple of weeks of sporting competition. Regardless of what year it is and how lucky the Chinese seem to think it is, I sure hope their claims of safety and security for the athletes and observers are true and that these 29th Olympic Games are remembered only for the records that were set, and the great competitions that took place instead of one of political disaster and mayhem.

Total Eclipse of the Moon Good Luck?

Tomorrow night the moon will be full and the shadow of the earth will overtake it and cause a total eclipse. Tomorrow is also my birthday, so I think it is a gift from the heavens to me! I wonder if that means that I will have a lucky year? I sure hope so. After the last year I had, I would really be thankful for some good things to come my way. In addition to the lunar eclipse, Saturns rings are also supposed to be visible. The next lunar eclipse will not occur until the year 2010, so I want to make this one count. The only thing that could ruin the viewing is that we are supposed to be getting a wintery mix of weather tomorrow night, but that doesn't dampen my hopes and spirits in regard to having a great 44th year!
