I Hate Daylight Savings Time!!!

Just a quick entry today. I hate Daylight Savings Time. It is stupid and really doesn't help anyone. Now I am going to be tired and cranky and my kids are going to have to wait for the bus in the dark tomorrow morning. Being a stubborn Hoosier, I liked things the way they were back before Mitch (the dark prince) Daniels became our governor. He crammed the DST thing through during his first week a governor. The citizens of Indiana ended up losing sleep and money in the whole deal. Let's face it, the excuse(s) for changing to DST were pretty flimsy: 1. To lower crime rates, 2, So it would be easier to do business with the surrounding states 3. so that Indiana would no longer be one of only two states (now I think only Arizona is left) that doesn't observe the time change. Not one of the those excuses has benefited anyone that I know of. The other thing I hate about Daylight Savings Time is that it is light and bright well past nine o'clock in the evening, but no stores stay open past that time. Everyone is raring to go, but there is nothing to do. Sorry, Benjamin Franklin, you had lots of good ideas in your time, but DST was one of the most ill-conceived, idiotic and unhealthy ideas you came up with.

Road Trip!

Tomorrow is the big day! All four girls and I are taking a road trip back home to Indiana. It seems strange, but I am more excited about going there than I was about going to Disney World last week. It has been almost a year since we moved and I am still very homesick, as are all the rest of my family. I think only the dog is happy here, and really, she is just happy anywhere we are. There are only 397 days left until we can make a clean break from here, and I just can't wait. My husband said something the other night as we were getting ready for bed. It was sort of funny, but sad at the same time, and I was feeling the same way. He said, "You know how when you are on a vacation, and you are getting toward the end of it and you are sort of looking forward to getting back home? Well, I was thinking that, and then I remembered what home we were going back to, and I wasn't so ready to go back." When we were boarding the airplane heading from Orlando to Dulles, I had forgotten that we weren't going home, home, we were going to the Virginia home, and I too, was feeling a little let down. I think this summer and the next school year will go fast as they all seem to do, and in no time, we will be looking toward finding a new home, back home and that will be one of the happiest days in my life!

Homesick

I'm feeling homesick today. I don't know what has come over me. I just want to go home and be near my friends and family. I want to be in a place where I don't feel so out-of-place. I really feel like a fish out of water here. The only people I talk to are my children and my husband (when he feels like listening). It is getting to the point where I will talk on and on to store clerks and telemarketers, if they happen to call. That feeling of homesickness actually feels like I am sick. I just want to be out of here. I want to belong; it's all very strange. The town I am living in has nothing to offer. You can't even buy underwear here. If you want anything like that, you have to drive to a town that is about 20-25 minutes away. There is no such thing as an emergency here. God help us all if there actually is one; we are about 30 minutes from the nearest hospital. I feel like this is all a terrible dream and I will wake up in my beautiful home in Indiana. I don't have any money, friends or freedom here. I just want to go home, but I know I can't.

I am starting to feel a little desperate. We have now been living in Virginia for almost three months, but our house in Fort Wayne, Indiana has not sold yet. I know the market stinks, I know the media keeps spinning how bad things are in real estate, but we really need to sell our house. It is in great condition on the inside, and on the outside we have over $12,ooo worth of landscaping. Everything is done. The buyer only needs to move in and put his or her own personal touches in it. Please, please, if you or anyone you know is moving to Fort Wayne, please have them check out our house. The neighborhood is nice, the neighbors are great, and the schools in the area are quite good. There is every convenience you could possibly want within a ten minute drive including a movie theater, shopping, restaurants, doctors' offices, and two top rated hospitals.
